Jeevan Singh (the founder) of Red Star Tuition has always had a knack for speed-learning and mathematics. He realised this talent when he was at primary school. Since then, he has excelled at the subject; achieving an A* at GCSE level (which was taken a year early), an A* at A-Level and getting a degree in Mathematics at Kings College, London.
Jeevan set up a Maths tutoring business in 2012 in order to share his learning techniques for the benefit of younger students. He was looking to help students who wanted to achieve similar success in Mathematics. From day one, his unique methods starting getting very positive results. Students started experiencing a boost in their confidence which translated into higher grades in their exam results.
Testimonials started pouring in from students who had followed his methods. You can see a sample of them below.
Due to demand, Red Star Tuition has evolved into a tutoring organisation that now teaches all 3 core subjects; Mathematics, English & Science.

I did struggle a lot during my maths lessons at school. My teacher never explained each concept in layman’s terms. I would answer textbook questions on auto-pilot, without ever considering the reasoning behind each answer. For example, I never really understood the purpose of differentiation yet I knew the process. The understanding part is so crucial, especially when answering exam-style questions…
This is where I struggled the most. I could not answer most of the questions in an exam paper and at this point, my confidence dropped. I thought I would get a D grade, at best, in my final exam. This is when I made the decision, albeit a bit late, to hire a private tutor…
I read up on Red Star Tuition’s success in the local area so I decided to take up their services. When I first met my tutor, he explained that my situation was bleak but he said, if you organise yourself very well, you can still get a very good grade in your AS-level maths. He knew my other A-Levels (Biology and Chemistry) would play a part in my final grade for maths so the first thing he did was draw a detailed yet feasible plan for us to follow over the next 3 months. He wanted me to do well in my AS level maths but not at the expense of revising for other subjects…
As time was of the essence (under 3 months until my real exam), we had to focus on exam technique. We went through exam question after exam question. He broke down each question into it’s step-by-step components and explained the reasoning, behind each step, in a very simple manner. In a matter of weeks, my understanding improved and I was able to answer questions much more confidently. I think this is what I was lacking all of this time – that solid understanding of each concept!
In the end, I achieved a ‘B’ grade in AS-level maths, a few marks off an A. It’s not the best grade but far better than what I had predicted. I thought I was going to get a D grade at the beginning! Also, time was a big disadvantage. I had 3 maths exams (C1, C2 and S1) and only 3 months until my first C1 paper. This averages to a month for each paper! If only I had a little more time, I believe I would have secured the ‘A’ grade…
Nonetheless, I am very happy with the result and I am much more confident for next years A-Level modules. As long as I follow Red Star Tuition’s advice and strategy, I will get an ‘A’ grade overall. Thanks a lot for all your help. You really did turnaround a once, drastic situation and given me that second chance…”

I heard about Red Star Tuition through a friend so I decided to take up his services. As soon as I met my tutor, I felt at ease. He was easy to talk to and I wasn’t hesitant to discuss my problems with him. I think this was mostly down to his age – he’s only a few years older than me so I guess it’s easier to build a rapport with him…
The difference between him and my maths teacher was obviously the one-to-one focus. My tutor would critically analyse my work and identify my weaknesses. Over time, we would focus on my weaknesses more. This is something I couldn’t get from school. My maths teacher would only work on the areas in which the majority of students struggled on; these were usually the more difficult topics. My tutor, on the other hand, went through the simple 1/2 markers as well because he said this is where most students drop silly marks from. Also, my maths teacher made a small yet devastating error, during her teaching. My tutor explained what this was and told me to do the complete opposite. This is what ultimately got me my ‘A’ grade!!
My tutor didn’t want me to stress-out over revision because stress can have an impact on the final result. That’s why he created ‘cheat sheets’ for me, every now and then; these were summary sheets of all the main concepts/formulas I needed to know. He wanted revision to be a comfortable process for me. He explained that I didn’t have to work around-the-clock to achieve top grades. As long as I followed his revision strategy, I could still have fun. And he was totally correct; my first maths paper was on the 9th June 2014 and 2 days before, I decided to take a trip to Thorpe Park! :D”

It was no surprise when Red Star Tuition told me I was quite far behind in maths (the result of my initial assessment was an ‘E’ grade) but my tutor advised me that if I followed their proven revision strategy, results would improve rapidly and they did…
In a few months, my grade bumped up to a ‘C’ grade and I’m now passing my GCSE maths with ease (by the way, I am only 13 years old).
This is a fantastic achievement considering thousands and thousands of 15/16 year olds are failing their GCSE maths every year! They said if I continued at this rate, there is no doubt I would get an A* in my final GCSE maths paper…
The reason why I improved so much in maths over such a short period of time is because of Red Star Tuition’s revision strategy and their ability to explain difficult maths concepts in simple terms. I tend to find maths easier when my tutor explains it to me. By operating on a one-to-one basis, they can address my problems then and there.
What I noticed, during my time with Red Star Tuition is they never put me down. Instead, they provide constructive criticism and show me exactly where I need to improve in. This is something I failed to get from my previous tutor…
The difference between Red Star Tuition and other tuition centres/agencies is that they do everything they can to ensure you get the best grade possible. They may charge a little more than your typical tutor but the results are well worth it. Thanks a lot Red Star Tuition. I would recommend your services to anyone studying maths…”

His tutor from Red Star Tuition… on the other hand.. shifted his mindset altogether. He gave him the self-belief that he would pass his GCSE maths exam on the next attempt. He advised him to strive towards the 100% mark because there is no reason why he couldn’t do this. His tutor picked up on his weaknesses early on and worked on these, in particular…
In the end, my son achieved his grade C in maths with ease (2014). This pass has allowed him to study A-Levels. Thank you so much Red Star Tuition!”

I sent my son to Kumon before but I felt he wasn’t being challenged enough. The emphasis was on basic maths principles such as addition, subtraction, multiplication etc. and there was also a lack of support from his tutor… Red Star Tuition, on the other hand, dealt with all of my son’s problems as and when they appeared. He also stretched him by setting him high-level maths work. He explained that my son had the potential to do well so why wait around?
In the end, I’ve seen a vast improvement in my son’s work as well as his overall character. He is much more confident in his ability and he find’s his school work very easy. He has recently moved to the top set in maths and he’s even been put forward as gifted and talented by his teacher. Thank you very much Red Star Tuition, only you could make this possible…”

And it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. After following their advice, I managed to grasp the entire subject and I passed my next GCSE maths exam, with ease. My tutor provided me with all the tools I needed to prepare for the exam. Together with his guidance, it was a foregone conclusion. Thank you so much Red Star Tuition! You have potentially changed my life. I recommend anyone looking to pass their GCSE maths, to take up your services!”

My other daughter, who is currently 14-years-old, has made a vast improvement in maths after following your advice. She is now in the top set for maths. I’m very confident that when she takes her GCSE maths exam in 2 years time, she will get an A/A* grade! Many many thanks for your help!

In the end I achieved an ‘A’ grade in GCSE maths (summer 2014). I was a little disappointed in myself. However, considering the circumstances, I think I did pretty well. I am now taking A-Level maths at a grammar school and wanted to thank you for helping me along the way. You have inspired me to do well in this subject and I’m sure my ‘A’ grade will definitely help me to study Veterinary Medicine at a top University. Once again, thank you so much!”

Their lessons are more exam-orientated – they focus on exam-style questions and they show you, in a step-by-step manner, how to answer each one. They address issues such as how to approach each question, thought processes and how to match up content with exam context. They explain difficult maths concepts in an easy-fashion. For instance, I struggled with trigonometric ratios before I came to Red Star Tuition, but within 10 minutes of my tutor explaining the concept, I managed to grasp it immediately.
In my most recent mock exam, I achieved a strong ‘B’ grade (a couple of marks off an A). I achieved the best grade in my entire year group. I am now being considered to take my GCSE Maths exam, early, in November this year when I would’ve just began year 11. Thanks Red Star Tuition, you have really turned my maths results around, in such a short space of time. Even my maths teacher was surprised…”

They also explain concepts with more detail. For instance, I used to find solving equations tricky but after his lesson on algebra, I fully understand how to solve an equation.”

With regards to time management, not having ‘their routine’ in place would have been a big mistake. I would have lost time; maybe another way of putting it would be, I would’ve wasted time unnecessarily or not getting the best use of the time available. That is why, Red Star Tuition’s revision strategy is a must have, if want to succeed. They also reveal a small rule of thumb which allows you to free up 50% of your time. It’s so simple yet so effective. When I put it into practise, it allowed me to free up half of my time! At the end of the day, revision is not all about work, work, work!
Lastly, the most important thing I can take out of this program is my results. Before I begun this program, I was sitting on a ‘B’ grade, but after following their advice and strategy, I am now working on a solid ‘A’ grade. After I follow their tips on securing 100% in the exam, I should bump this grade up to an ‘A*’, by the time of my exam in a couple of weeks. With the improved grade, I also find that I am completing the Past Papers in less time. This course has worked for me. It can also work for you!
